gathering of eagles? more like eagle shit

here’s a prime example of what happens when a country loses its moral compass. ignorant cowards like the members of this group ought to be called out for what they are by every major media outlet and on the floor of both the house and the senate. it won’t happen, because we don’t have any courageous leaders left on either side of the aisle.

and if you think all the talk about the new american fascism is just ‘fascionable lefty speak’, think again. you’d have to be an idiot not to see the parallels. which brings me back to the gathering of eagles. hit their site, often. use up their bandwidth. register for the forums and post copies of all those viagra ads you have in your junk folder. call them out for the chickenhawks they are.

and then do something productive like speaking openly, loudly, and often about the need to end this war, expose the bush administration for the criminals they are, and restore some sense of dignity and honor to this country. it may take another revolution. help start it.

i’ll tell you what’s sad

president shit-for-brains today on alberto gonzales:

“It’s sad that we live in a time when a talented and honorable person like Alberto Gonzales is impeding (sic) from doing important work because his good name was dragged through the mud for political reasons.”

sad is sending hundreds of thousands of servicemen and women to fight a war of choice made by people who never served a day in their lives, who fabricated a web of lies to support a misguided, intellectually dishonest “policy” of establishing “democracy” in the middle east.

sad is watching a country that used to embody democracy descend into a pathetic parody of itself at the hands of people who care more about party and power than country.

sad is the endless parade of assholes like mitch mcconnell, duncan hunter, karl rove, ari fleischer, joe lieberman and the countless others of their ilk work tirelessly to destroy this nation in order to save their positions of power and line their own pockets at the expense of others.

sad is the realization that the spineless “majority” party won’t even have the collective balls to demand an impartial attorney general who will pursue justice regardless of where that leads.

sad is having a president who doesn’t know the difference between “impeded” and “impeding.”

keith hits it out of the park

yes, it’s incredible that there are still folks who believe the libby case is just about his lying under oath during his grand jury testimony. it’s even more incredible that there are as many apologists for the whole sad affair as there are out there.

but leave it to keith olbermann to lay out the truth (nice and simple for the bushies, who hopefully can still hear even with their heads so far up their asses) on why the commutation of libby’s sentence is so destructive to this nation and what should be done about it. watch this and weep. how did we ever let these charlatan assholes drive our country so far into the ground?

it accomplishes nothing, but it feels good

after reading about bush commuting scooter’s sentence, i did what i often do when presented with something outrageous and infuriating. i wrote an email. this time, it was to george and dick (two of the best arguments for abortion i’ve ever seen):

subject: if it walks like a thug and talks like a thug

you people are truly beyond belief.

it would take more energy than i have (and as a father of three young boys, i’ve got a lot of energy) to catalog the egregious offences you and your “administration” have committed against this once-great nation.

commuting little scooter’s sentence today is just your latest “fuck you” to the american people. it’s not enough that you lied to get us into war. it’s not enough that you lied about leaks and leakers, all the while doing the leaking yourselves. it’s not enough that you manipulated the justice department for political gain. no, you have to step in and overturn the decisions of judge and jury in a transparent effort to keep one of the insiders from turning on you.

well, right back at you.

fuck you.

wishful thinking

bush on castro:

“One day the good Lord will take Fidel Castro away,” Bush said in answer to a question after a speech at the Naval War College.

one day the good lord (or a pretzel) will take bush away too. oh please, please, please make it a day in the very near future. only caveat: make it at least one day after cheney departs.

UPDATE: okay, not a good idea to post when you’re incensed over so many things (like stonewalling subpoenas, people dying needlessly in iraq, billions being wasted daily, how sad that the list goes on and on and on). so i’m just going to recalibrate my degree of anger and say that “take away” means impeach. still best to get rid of cheney first.
